-My story- a bit long, but worth it for anyone considering coming here for back problems. I came to iowa from the east coast and have had horrible problems with my back. I have a herniated t10 disk and painful spasms, and we had to leave my doctor when we moved and find another here. The first place i was recommended to was the residency. The provider i saw was only willing to prescribe a two-week supply of one of my medications..at half my normal dose. At the next appointment, she stopped it completely after ive been in pain management for years. She said that they don't give pain medications for chronic issues and that withdrawals and were "not that uncomfortable". Fyi, it is well-documented that abrupt tramadol cessation can cause seizures. She said she could make me a pain management appointment...for next month. Lol... so after a couple weeks of my back killing me and a period of nasty withdrawals, husband and i scheduled another appointment. I saw another provider who thought pain control could be achieved through physical therapy and traziudone (a potent sleeping pill.) He said he didnt believe in masking pain with medication. So what do they make it for? And i guess knocking yourself unconscious on addictive sleeping pills is better than using medication specifically intended for the problem. Hypocrite. Ive heard that Iowa has a huge problem with opiate abuse...but i dont appreciate being treated like some addict or junkie when i have legitimate need for pain control that Motrin doesn't always cover. My tramadol helped me and doesnt get you "high"...it made it possible to endure living with a bad back and still function. So thanks alot Mercy..you people are nuts. It made moving back to the east coast very easy. At least our doctors care about their patient's needs and actually try to improve the quality of people's lives...your physicians are there to make a paycheck only.
