Room is nothing special but it's a bed and bathroom. Was a place to lay our heads while celebrating the holiday with family. Don't plan on taking breakfast back to your room
The rooms are fine if you're paying the regular rate and not the jacked up special event rate. House keeping leaves something to be desired (hair was in the shower in my room and crumbs in the table in another room. The non smoking room I had was surrounded by smoking rooms. The crib they have for guests to use is a pack n play with a 2 inch foam pad and a blanket which is 100% unsuitable for anyone under 1 year and we couldn't use for our 3 month old. Customer service was not there which when you're paying $250 (RAGBRAI was in the next town over so price gouging was in effect) for an $80 room you expect a little extra smiles and such. The Continental breakfast was a joke. You get better offerings at a gas station. Only stayed there as a family emergency necessitated being in town overnight and this was literally the last room available within 25 miles. Would recommend looking at the other hotels nearby instead.
Nice rooms but rates change on a daliy basis. Starting at 65 dollars and up.
Franchises need to hold their franchisees to the exact same standards. I'm not expecting Hilton conditions, but I am not expecting Motel 6 standards at $91 a night in the Midwest!
Friendly staff + manager, clean room, hallway strongly smelled of cigarettes but the room smelled good. Experience was satisfactory but isn't worth the price considering there are nicer hotels within the same company family chain that cost the same price but offer so much more.
The ONLY reason it gets one star is because I didn't have to sleep outside. 1st off, the front desk clerk checked me in in her pajamas at 8 pm. I would understand this at a mom and pop Motor In with a midnight check in. But not at a Days Inn. Bed was uncomfortable! Mattress was terrible. Pillows looked like they've been used for 5 years. They had an old black recliner in the room that was ripped AND the pleather was worn. Wall unit AC that o/s cold air seeped thriugh. The worst thing about it was the price. $91 with AAA!
If you find yourself in need of a hotel in Mason City Iowa, pay the extra $15 and stay at the Hampton Inn and suites. At least you'll feel like they want you to stay there.
